  7. The ACL MC multiport serial board from Star Gate Technologies, Inc.  features
  8. 128 KB scratch RAM -- double the buffer of other eight-port boards designed to
  9. support the Micro Channel Architecture (MCA).  128 KB of onboard buffer allows
  10. the intelligent board to accept larger amounts of data from its MCA host,
  11. thereby off-loading the host CPU and enhancing system response.  Besides the
  12. 128 KB buffer, the eight-channel ACL MC supports a transmission rate of up to
  13. 38.4 Kbaud at each port and provides zero-wait-state interface with the Micro
  14. Channel.  The 10 MHz 80186 ACL MC shares memory with its MCA host, further
  15. aiding the efficient transfer of data.  Setting board parameters with the MCA
  16. configuration utility eliminates the need to set DIP switches.  Each ACL MC
  17. provides eight full-featured serial ports for connecting serial devices to an
  18. MCA host.  When equipped with multiple ACL MC boards, a typical MCA system
  19. easily support 32 active users.  Offered with fully shielded cables and choice
  20. of remote panel:  RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.  Besides field-proven reliability,
  21. the intelligent ACL MC provides:  dual-port memory can be located anywhere in
  22. the host's 16 MB address space for greater memory address flexibility; onboard
  23. scratch RAM supports custom programs, which can be developed on a PC using
  24. standard development tools.
